Telephone
A few rooms are fitted with telephone sockets which can be connected to British Telecom – please ask if you would like to make use of this service. Residents are responsible for their own bills.
All residents may receive calls from friends and relatives on the home telephone number. If you wish to make an out-going call please ask the Matron or Nurse-in-Charge who will arrange this for you – a charge will be made for out-going calls.
Electrical Equiptment
If you bring any electrical equipment into the home we would kindly ask that you permit our Maintenance man to test the said appliance prior to use. All equipment will need to be P.A.T. (Portable Appliance Testing) tested annually – the home will arrange this.
Security
For your maximum security the front door is operated by a switch card system. Should your friends and relatives wish to obtain a card for their own benefit these may be purchased from Matron/Administrator at a cost of £5.00 refundable on return. Please ask your visitors to sign the book on the table near the front door on arrival and departure.

For the above, monies will be taken and receipted from any pocket monies but if you prefer you can settle the account direct with the Hairdresser or Chiropodist.

Laundry
Our own on-site laundry will launder your clothes. It is essential that all personal laundry is marked clearly with your name using embroidered name tapes – we can buy these in for you. All items should be fully machine washable and able to be tumble dried. We cannot be responsible for any unmarked clothes.
Valuables
In the interest of security, please limit the amount of money and valuables you keep in your room, as we cannot be responsible for items unless they are deposited for safe keeping in the office. There is a lockable facility in your room for small items.
Pocket Money
Our Administration office offers a service to residents for the management of incidental expenses, for example personal toiletries, newspapers, hairdressing, chiropody etc. This means that you bank a small amount of money with the office, maximum please of £100.00 and we will deal with your everyday expenses from this account. It is a requirement of this service that your account be in ‘credit’. If we should need to write to you of an ‘overdrawn’ balance an administration charge may be incurred for postage etc. Please note that we prefer cash amounts to be banked rather than cheques.
